Four promising strategies emerged from this study to help us manage these resources: (i) virtual compost, (ii) viral data, (iii) powertool leakage, and (iv) digital treasuring. Together, these can become pillars of a renewed digital design practice that pro-actively addresses digital waste. They challenge the assumption that digital storage is infinite and that more is always better.
